Weaving of Paithani Saree : Paithni is a small town in the Marathawada  religion of Maharastra.is well known for its paithani Saree and as a spitural center of the banks of the River Godavari.it traces it's origin to almost two thousand years back. it was known  as Pratiṣṭhāna. the capital of the Sattavahanas. other dynasties as the Yadvas, the nizams and the Peshwas left a Significate mark on the town.

So We See How The Paithani Saree is Created by Weavers. weaving the Paithani is time consuming process of which the 

  1. Part is preparing the Banaa.
  2. the Welf of the banaais prepared by Passing a single silk Thread through thapes. which are stone Blocks with Wooden Handles and Twirling it with second Thread.
  3. This process is multiple times , creating Warp Thread of two four or  five ply thickness Wrapped arround the tansal.
  4. it is then winded on the winding machine and Wrapped around wooden Bobbines or the kandya
  5. this kandya are used in the Shuttle. Dhota for weaving. it takes three to four days to be prepared.

The more the ply of the banaa, the thicker the Fabric of the Sarees The silk  Today is Presorted and pre dyed in a large variety of Colors due to the availability of Chemical dyes.

Earlier silk used to be dyed by Organic Dyes in the city itself but this craft has been lost to us Today.

The Paithani Saree takes anything from 3 Weeks to a year to finish weaving based on the length of the Padar.the level of details in the motifs and the thickness of the border.
